Xayn and Libra collaborate to foster secure Legal AI
BERLIN, November 7, 2024 – AI startups Xayn and Libra are combining their expertise in legal AI to offer lawyers secure and compliant AI solutions and automate workflows. Xayn develops Europe's first sovereign Legal AI Noxtua, enabling lawyers to review, analyze, translate, and draft legal documents in a compliant and legally competent manner. Noxtua's proprietary legal language models are trained with legal texts selected and labeled by legal experts. Libra provides an AI platform that simplifies legal workflows, seamlessly integrates with existing workflows, and makes AI offerings accessible to lawyers through natural language. In the new collaboration, Xayn provides the Noxtua expert models, which Libra integrates into its workflow solutions.
With the complementary integration of Noxtua language models into Libra's AI platform, lawyers can automate routine legal tasks such as information extraction, document processing, and draft creation in a compliant and comprehensive manner. Legal experts save resources for administrative tasks and gain more time for core legal and strategic tasks.
Trustworthy Legal AI Made in Germany
"Xayn and Libra are committed to data protection and the development of powerful AI Made in Germany. We are pleased about this complementary cooperation. Germany and Europe are in the global AI race – and it makes sense for German AI companies to bundle their expertise and strengths. Noxtua is Europe's first sovereign Legal AI and relies on the development of its own specialized language models – because lawyers cannot simply take off-the-shelf AI, but require highly specialized AI solutions," emphasizes Dr. Leif-Nissen Lundbæk (CEO & Co-Founder Xayn).
"Lawyers in Europe need a provider who understands their specific situation and needs. By combining the complementary strengths of Xayn and Libra, we offer a powerful alternative to overseas providers. Our shared values and deep understanding of the European legal markets make the combination of Xayn, Noxtua, and Libra the first choice for lawyers who value excellence and accuracy," explains Viktor von Essen (CEO & Founder Libra).
Increased Quality and Productivity in Legal Workflows
Noxtua's legal language models are trained by Xayn with contract templates, interactions with contracts, and legal texts selected and labeled by legal experts. The resulting specialization of the models enables them, for example, to identify legal risks and analyze documents. Libra integrates Europe's first sovereign Legal AI Noxtua via API interface into its Legal AI platform. The Noxtua models provide suggestions and insights based on high-quality legal data and improve the accuracy and legal quality of complex documents generated by Libra. Libra users can also analyze a larger number of documents faster through the integration of Noxtua and thus increase their productivity.
Libra and Xayn place a strong focus on compliance, data protection, and security. The Libra platform is hosted on EU servers and is GDPR- and ISO 27001-compliant and meets the requirements for lawyers under the German Federal Code for Lawyers (BRAO). Xayn's Legal AI Noxtua is hosted on the German Open Telekom Cloud, meets the professional and data protection requirements for lawyers under Section 203 of the German Federal Criminal Code (StGB) and Section 43e of the Federal Code for Lawyers (BRAO), and is certified with ISO 9001 (quality management), ISO/IEC 27001 (information security), ISO/IEC 27018 (cloud storage), and ISO/IEC 27017 (cloud environments). The partnership thus ensures that user data remains in Europe and complies with the GDPR and professional confidentiality obligations.
Founded out of a research project at the University of Oxford and Imperial College London, Xayn has been characterized by in-depth expertise in the development of highly efficient GDPR-compliant AI solutions since 2017. In early 2024, Xayn launched Europe's first sovereign Legal AI Noxtua and initiated the Legal AI Alliance with Germany's largest commercial law firm CMS to drive the development of sovereign European AI.
