Libra surpasses €3 million in ARR – AI workspace becomes the digital operating system for legal work

Berlin, October 16, 2025 – Berlin-based LegalTech startup Libra has surpassed €3 million in Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) – only weeks after crossing the €2 million mark. With its AI-powered workspace platform, the company is establishing itself as the central digital infrastructure for modern law firms and legal departments.

Libra’s strong growth reflects its deep connection between product development and legal practice. Continuous feedback from users flows directly into new features – visible in the latest Autumn Update. At the same time, Libra is increasingly recommended from within the legal community itself – valued as a reliable, practice-oriented solution with measurable impact. Integrations such as the partnership with legal publisher Dr. Otto Schmidt powered by LDA further enhance the platform’s content precision.

Founded in 2023 by former Freshfields lawyer Viktor von Essen and Danish software engineer Dr. Bo Tranberg, Libra today supports over 9,000 legal professionals across nearly 800 law firms and legal departments worldwide. The platform unifies research, analysis, and document creation in a secure, integrated workspace that fully complies with data protection and professional confidentiality regulations, including GDPR and §203 of the German Criminal Code (StGB).

With its latest update, Libra has further deepened its integration capabilities. New workflows and connectors – such as for Outlook and SharePoint – make Libra accessible directly within the tools where legal work actually happens: in the inbox and document management systems.

“The pace at which Libra is evolving shows how quickly legal work itself is changing,” says CEO Viktor von Essen. “We’re not growing because AI is trendy – we’re growing because we understand the real challenges of everyday legal work and make them future-proof: secure, integrated, and grounded in practice. Libra stands for a new culture of legal work – digitally sovereign, collaborative, and open to technology.”

CTO Dr. Bo Tranberg adds: “We’re building Libra so that AI feels like an organic part of legal work – not an extra tool you have to learn first. Libra comes to where legal professionals already work: within their familiar systems and workflows. We stand for seamless integration, maximum security, and purpose-built application in everyday legal practice.”
